DERBY INSPIRED PHOTOSHOOt

One of our talented vendors, Kirsta at Blue Eyed Yonder, schemed up this masterpiece, blending a romantic, soft, pastel palette with rich pops of deep emeralds. Classic Derby elements such as roses, mint juleps, and equestrian-inspired details were featured throughout, shot by the lovely Ali Harper, and featured in Weddings Unveiled and on Snippet and Ink. Lush florals and the blush rose blanket made of over 1,000 buds –amazing! Ashley Buzzy McHugh’s trophy inspired invitations and paper goods are just gorgeous and have us wishing she could hand letter everything in our lives! Alright, if this list of vendors is making you feel like you’ve got a case of Deja Vu from the Southern Wedding’s shoot, you aren’t crazy. But you know the old saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and man-oh-man, it’s not broken. We love how different these two shoots are, and how they showcase that no one involved in both beautiful shoots is a one-trick pony.

For Derby inspired food, SIMB’s executive chef, Alison Lueker, whipped up rosemary and garlic crusted lamb chops with golden beet grits and pan-roasted okra for dinner. She also played off the palette and theme, featuring pickled shrimp in cucumber cups, cheese straws with a bourbon pecan crust, and benne seed biscuits with country ham + grain mustard as appetizers. Pretty plates and delicious dishes. We’re are continuously floored to get to work with such creative and inspiring folks.
